Ingram return from your self imposed exile… we have a new trailer!
Sorry for the late response, EJC. The trailer is mostly just a regurgitation of the previous but this time around rubbed me a bit the wrong way and leaves me struggling to maintain any real enthusiasm for the film. Safe bet it won't be terrible, but beyond that...
Once again I could do without Audiomachine trailer music covers of [insert whatever great theme from a great composer] even if the Rolling Stones' track is technically appropriate for the setting. Then there's the now-obligatory Hollywood screenwriter "cynical Capitalism" joke that I guess they felt was gem enough to include in the trailer no less. That shit in general is getting irritating. They threw one into Crystal Skull but at least there it had the contextual irony of being delivered in league with '50s Soviet bad guys. The one here is just a dud and has already been memed with mockery. Otherwise, I still haven't any issue with all the remaining apparent elements of the film from its casting to hinted story trajectory. Except, perhaps, for that ugly digital color grading, which I'm hoping will breathe better on the big screen.

Personally I feel unsure what to make of the movie. Not sure yet if I want to spoil myself or not

Whatever the fate of this last installment in its feature-length, the official poster is in my eyes absolutely stunning.
The artists is Tony Stella, a young(er —roughly my age) illustrator who has cut his teeth on poster/novel cover art that a) hearkens back to the more classicalist styles of 1970/80s pulp, and b) often both barrows from Japanese marquee cinema influences and is marketed to Japanese distribution. He's also since done additional promo posters for both Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Here, obviously, he is servicing the established style of Drew Struzan while still maintaining his own artistic voice. This really could be, from the 70s, an airport novel cover or a poster for some men's hardboiled adventure film directed by John Huston, Sam Peckinpah, Terence Young etc. Appropriate, what with the film's 1969 time frame; it evokes something dirty, faded, maybe even a bit more cynical per the era. Given his persuasions, I suspect eljedicolombiano would approve.

The colours and the shading certainly bring the intensity. It strikes a very different tone than the trailer.

Meh- typical of these pre-release reviews. They’ll say anything to keep getting invited
Saying that, the critics don't appear to be loving the film

Man these Idiots who get paid to review movies are the most predictable ever- they never really have any opinions of their own, and almost always act according to groupthink

But then I thought the Hollywood and film business are very much like North Korea. You need to know the right people to get the jobs, you need to stay on good terms with the right people to get more opportunities, you need the say what the right people want you to say to get award recognition and, again, more opportunities. You need the write what you think these people want to read in order to get access to information and interviews. You need to play by their rules, which is something Lucas never did and what played a part in the witch hunt directed at Lucas and his movies at a certain point. That said, when the movies arrive on Disney+, I will probably watch the Indiana Jones movies for the first time.

Yes, it's true. I was born in 1990, the first three films had already been released by then and Indiana Jones just wasn't a thing when I grew up. Star Wars? Certainly. Harry Potter? Absolutely. LOTR? Sure. Raimi's Spider-Man? Yes. But Indiana Jones? Something known by name only, much like Star Trek or Back to the Future. Remnants of the past with no real relevance. I might have seen an episode of Young Indy when it was on TV in the 90s, but I am not sure. Is there an episode with a shrunken Indy or something like that? It was probably a different show I'm not sure most of today's kids even know Indiana Jones. In Europe, at least. The US might be different.

I'm only 4 years older, but i guess maybe I got into Star Wars a good 4-5 years before Phantom Menace, I had more time to delve into the Lucas brand. Also, Spielberg movies were still my bread and butter during that time before the prequels. I really go about assuming anyone my age or slightly over knew the Star Wars, Indy, and Back to the Future trilogies. Don't tell me you've never seen Honey, I Shrunk the Kids either.

I was born in 94, yet I saw the Indy movies thanks to my mom buying them on VHS. Many in my age group saw Crystal Skull when it came out in theaters.
Ingram will probably have a heart attack when he reads that 😉
