Final shot of Ahoska was like a big F-U to the ending of TROS. Loved that I loved that Sabine referred to that specific shot as, "shadows in the starlight." Beautifully put. That captures something true about reality. Every once in a while you get a vague glimpse of the extraordinary like that.

It seems like we could all see he was coming; I notice it in a few of the reactors on YouTube. Not that we all presumed he would play a role in the finale, it's just that when the scene did arrive, with the two characters were standing around, it felt right, it felt like it was time for a Force Ghost. Actually for a while there it seemed like they were stalling, you have Ahsoka and Sabine engaged in small talk, it's as if they're preparing the Anakin ghost in real time.

The Ahsoka show summed up in 56 seconds:

My biggest disappointment: Ahsoka is now too serious to call Anakin, "Skyguy." And honestly, he's dead, he's LITERALLY A SKY GUY NOW. Okay now on to other stuff: How cool is it that Ray Stevenson's final shot is him standing on a statue of The Father from Mortis!? Way to go out with style, my good sir. That being said...his story isn't over yet. Ouch. During the entire final battle I was waiting for him to show up and complicate things, but nope. You gotta love how Thrawn peed his panties a little bit when The Apprentice of Anakin Skywalker was coming for him. xD Now, it would seem my prediction was off a fair bit. In my video I said Ahsoka would have a grand gesture of compassion toward Sabine and Ezra that would save the day and pave the way toward a solution in regards to Thrawn. I said that because the earlier episodes really emphasized Ahsoka's fear of another war and her disagreement with Sabine over having to sacrifice Ezra if it came down to it. Huyang pretty much confirmed that Filoni is taking Sabine's side in that disagreement because Huyang said something to the effect that Ahsoka's belief that Sabine made the wrong choice was her fear talking. In Star Wars, compassion trumps fear. So, perhaps by underlining this conflict, the earlier episodes made me expect a BIG emotional payoff from Ahsoka. By that I mean, the stakes that were set up suggested (in my mind at least) that Ahsoka would have a big moment where she has to make a tough choice: sacrifice Ezra or trust Sabine's compassion for Ezra. Now, the setup wasn't totally misleading because Filoni did pay this off, but it came in a much smaller, casual moment where Ahsoka basically says to Sabine: "You were right. Your gamble with Ezra payed off." In that moment I was like...that's it? We could argue that trusting Sabine also involves being compassionate towards her, so it is kinda about compassion, but with a bigger emphasis on trust. So what Anakin was teaching Ahsoka was: Don't be afraid. trust Sabine like I trusted you. In other words, share her suffering. However, due to the fact Ahsoka isn't done yet, his lesson may have more layers that will be peeled back over time. I will admit too, that during the scene in Episode 4 where Sabine hands the map over to Baylan, Filoni really made me fall in love with Sabine because in that moment I REALLY wanted her to get what she wanted. Clearly, Ahsoka interpreted this as: she's making the same error Anakin made with Padme, so by risking another war it looks like Sabine is being super selfish. To be fair though, she didn't go killing younglings to make her rendezvous with Ezra happen, but it has indeed led to Thrawn's return. That being said, by trusting Sabine like Anakin trusted Ahsoka, Sabine was able to trust in The Force and get Ezra on board that Star Destroyer. So, in the end, Sabine's compassion for Ezra is indeed the key to all of this (Therefore, Ezra is the Jar Jar of Ahsoka), that is, he is the factor that will lead to Thrawn's downfall. That bastard was sooo gloating at Ahsoka as he made his escape, but he's already lost because he was dealing with you know who's apprentice!!!! They also had a nice payoff for Huyang's earlier line: "They were always better when they stuck together." The fact that Anakin's lesson may have more layers that could pay off later might mean that this may not be the last we see of Force Ghost Anakin. I do want to see her exchange some words with Anakin when all is said and done (I'm a greedy Anakin fanboy at heart I guess, lol). As for that Mortis teaser. It makes me wonder if Ahsoka and Sabine won't be in the Thrawn movie because they will be busy with their own adventure far, far away. Either that or Season 2 of Ahsoka is coming before the movie. That being said, I can see Ahsoka being a separate thing from now on because a part of me thinks Filoni is gonna milk Ahsoka to the hilt. 5 seasons, plus her own movie kind of deal. I wouldn't be surprised. PS. ArchdukeOfNaboo Best Dripwalker yet.

Where Ahsoka ranks for me amongst the other SW TV shows:
1. The Clone Wars (2008 & 2003). 2. Tales of the Jedi 4. The Bad Batch 3. Star Wars: Rebels 4. The Mandalorian 5. Ahsoka 6. Star Wars: Visions 6. The Book of Boba Fett 7. Star Wars: Resistance 7. Andor (not really SW) 8. Obi-Wan Kenobi (this fucking pains me)
That being said, Ahsoka Episode 5 is my favourite live action episode of SW TV.

The Bad Batch and Rebels are kinda interchangeable. So are Mando and Ahsoka. Those are close calls for me.

Well, I have two episodes left. Should I even bother? There's some fresh, not unLucasian zest to the climactic action in the season finale. Quite well done. Then again, I'd been all in since the premiere. This and Andor take the cake for me when it comes to live-action SW TV.

The prison sequence is pure Lucas. At least, outwardly.

Yeah, Andor definitely has some things in common with Lucas, but the tone...not so much. I admired that the makers of Andor were trying something specifically deviant. That kind of iconoclasm is an underappreciated part of the unique alchemy of SW. But I generally share your reservation. It seems Disney/LFL recruits those expert at rendering only one part of the elephant but none can get the whole pachyderm right; not even Filoni. If supreme mastery is even possible...

I have completed a re-watch of Ahsoka. It is very significant that Sabine senses Anakin's Force Ghost before Ahsoka. Sabine didn't help Ezra to satisfy her own selfish desire (as many have misread), she did it to reward Ezra's trust in her. He asked her to come find him, so she did. Just as Anakin rewarded Luke's trust in him, Sabine rewarded Ezra's trust in her. And then by not leaving Ahsoka, she rewarded Ahsoka's belated trust in her too. The Anakin is strong with this one. It is only fitting she notices the shadows in the moonlight first.

So basically, this is the Ahsoka show, but Sabine steals the show. LOL. Sorry Ahsoka, I love you, but your Padawan surpassed you on this one.

Now I see people are using the idea of a Clone Wars era live-action movie or series as yet another attempt to "correct" the Prequels and "do what the Prequels should have done in the first place," that is, focus more on the Clone Wars. Sometimes I just want the aliens to come and beam me off of this God-forsaken rock. Take me to an alien civilization where the Prequels are exalted and held sacred as they deserve to be. Wait... This forum already beamed me up to such a civilization! Neat! We ARE on Naboo! TCW WERE NEVER MEANT TO SPAN THE ENTIRE TRILOGY! THE FANS AGAIN ARE SPOILED BRATS!

George Lucas was the man who green-lit TCW. And he wasn't giving in to any fanboy rage, he was capturing in depth a period of war that two of his films only bookend.
There's some new fan film out recently that animates the Anakin vs Obi-Wan. I haven't watched a second, I agree with Smitty that there's nothing that needs to be re-done. However, there's always more room for TCW stories. It was prematurely close due to Disney and the returning season barely featured Anakin, Obi-Wan or Padmé, it was more akin to the Ahsoka Tano cartoon show.

A tad unusual seeing these promotional tour style interviews coming out now, almost a year on from the series airing. You'd swear a second season of Ahsoka was about to come out.
