I don't mean to be rude about this...but... "Censorship" If I may, it’s not really censorship. I mean we have seen this level of decapitation on Clone Wars before in the Season 1 episode “Cloak of Darkness” with Ventress cutting off that clone’s head yet we only see Ventress swing her sabers with the sound of a cut off head cutting to the helmet rolling on the floor and the body falling. Yeah sure we got Ahsoka slicing off 4 Mandos heads in Season 4, but, that was it. Even Grievous seemed to cut off the head of a Nightsister, but it was so quick and blocked out by the lightsaber thing that you don’t see it. Also, Savage and Maul decapitated 5 Black Sun leaders and Pre Vizsla in Season 5 yet we never saw their heads roll on the floor. Same with Riff Tamson in the Mon Cala arc biting off Mon Calamari heads yet they’re blocked out (or as many would claim “censored” by bubbles). Same with the vision of Anakin beheading Dooku in the Season 6 finale episode of “The Clone Wars” with Yoda. Though, I can’t be sure if this post is trolling/sarcasm or seriousness.

It's sarcasm, hence the quotation marks. Just as you said, we've seen decapitation on-screen with this show before, but the complaint I've been hearing is that they dumbed down or made the Season 7 episodes kid-friendly, where as seen above that is FAR from the truth.

Funny. I can remember every single one of those listed decapitations. I guess you tend to remember when heads roll.
Anyway, I'm utterly floored by this last arc. I still need time to process. But with 'Victory and Death', I felt the episode's conceit of the remaining heroes attempting to escape a massive, mechanical behemoth hurling toward its certain doom was particularly apt.
This whole series has done Lucas' Star Wars legacy proud, I feel. Phenomenal accomplishment. I've been following the series since the theatrical feature in 2008 and have seen every single episode upon release. It's been an amazing ride, to say the least!

This season was a disappointment. Needless changes, limitations, censorship, out of character behavior, no Lucas involvement... This is an ending, but not "the" ending. Instead of making it fit Lucas' saga, they made it fit Disney's works and left it open for whatever Disney decides to do in the future. The little hope I had was expectedly crushed. This was Filoni let loose with TCW, instead of being under George's guidance. And unfortunately, it shows.
It does have technical merits, but sadly they were used in a story created at the expense of fidelity. But Filoni knows it. Like he said, it's not the same doing the series without Lucas.
To me, this will remain a curiosity. An experiment...
P.S: Ironically, I really liked the Vangelis-esque music when Maul is moved from Mandalore to the Star Destroyer. Guess which track was excluded from the released OST?

I miss Uncle George too. I really do. But Filoni and company's work is tight enough for me and far more Lucasian than anything Disney's done in the feature realm by a long shot (not a slight against the ST, by any means). I believe Filoni managed to effectively internalize Lucas' influence after almost a decade of working with the man directly on the series. Anyone as talented and as reverent as Filoni would. Lucas may not have been present in the writers' room or in the edit bay for this last season but I have no doubt much about these last episodes would be worthy of his "FABULOSO" stamp of approval.
Here's a fun fact: A few years ago, Filoni revealed that the episode that Lucas remained uncharacteristically silent on in its review was episode 1.07 (production code). Filoni was explaining how a lack of notes from Lucas meant his satisfaction with the team's work and their sufficient grasp of the elaborate mechanics involved in pulling off something worthy of canonical Star Wars. Episode 1.07 is pretty early on; after the 2008 feature and three episodes into the first season's production schedule. That alone speaks volumes about how quickly and effectively Lucas was grooming the crew to do things right (enough).

Yes, Lucas taught Filoni, Gilroy and the rest of the team on how to do Star Wars right. But all the way through to the very end, George was still supervising them, changing things they did that he didn't agree with, and even creating stories that they weren't willing to do. And that's the thing, this was a George Lucas project. I'm of the opinion that a George Lucas project with a George Lucas story and George Lucas characters should be approached only with his supervision. Now, this might not have been under Filoni's control, but my point is that we got Filoni's ending, and we should have gotten George's since it was his story and his characters.
If you're asking me if there's anyone out there that could continue to create new Star Wars content in the same vein as Lucas, that would be Filoni, flaws and all. He learned from the master. And even if I might not care, I've nothing against him carrying it forward with new characters that he created in a new setting.
Comparing it to anything Disney isn't saying much since it's such a low bar.

And that's a wrap!
This season was fantastic, and one hell of a way to end the show. Bravo to Filoni and co for doing the best job they could given their 12-episode limit. I loved it all, and no force in the universe will be able to convince me otherwise!

AlexrdHow Does it Connect to Disney's Works? By knowing where it all goes, particularly with Maul and Ahsoka (who appear in Disney's works). It's known that George was adamant in trying to close all the open threads so that they don't conflict with the movies. That's why all the major key characters introduced in the series got killed one way or the other. Maul is a Sith and a major villain that by being alive automatically undermines the events of ROTS, specially when the Jedi and the Sith are aware of his survival. I was hoping that they would at least make the fate of Ahsoka and Maul (specially him) ambiguous, so that there are no dangling threads if one watches the movies and TCW, but sadly that didn't happen.

I wasn't entirely satisfied with the ending (I personally prefer some sparks of hope among all the tragedy, like at the end of ROTS, while this finale was more or less wholly bleak), but I think they achieved what they wanted and pulled it off well. I've even come to appreciate the decision to focus only on Ahsoka and Rex, because I think the creators wanted to be careful not to try to be "bigger" than ROTS. Yes, obviously there's the fact that they're the creator favorites, but also by focusing on a handful of characters and the localized fallout, they avoid trying to compete on the grand galactic scale of the tragedy depicted in the film. So as much as I would've liked to have seen the impact on more of the characters that were explored throughout the series (because it was never just the Ahsoka show), or seen exploration of the plot threads that the film didn't have time for (such as Padmé's proto-Rebellion subplot that was cut), I'm glad the TCW finale was deferential to ROTS in this respect rather than trying to eclipse it.

Another thing that I feel was missed opportunity was the lack of setup for the attack on Coruscant. The story they ended up telling with the siege of Mandalore could have been told in three episodes. The first one should have been the Sith and Grievous planning the attack on the capital. After all, this plot point was already established in previous episodes, with the Nexus Route coordinates.

I've finally got around to watching this 7th season.
The Bad Batch arc was a little bit déjà-vu. I like the story, but I was well familiar with it from the unfinished animations released some while ago.
The animation quality was emphatically good. I couldn't get over how impressive the lower levels of Coruscant looked in the 2nd arc. The animation technology has improved so much since the the then-final season in 2013, that I'm left with a sense of regret over how masterful the upper levels of Coruscant could have appeared. The sisters arc was admittedly much better than I'd predicted, and the new characters less annoying, but if we take it away, does it have any affect on the 3rd arc? I don't think so: Ashoka was already sufficiently developed. What should have made this very limited run instead were stories on lesser explored members of the Council like Ki-Adi Mundi, Plo Koon or Kit Fisto. Even another arc with Anakin and Obi-Wan, or an animation of the deleted scene of Padmé and the rebel senators would have made so much sense.
I did like how they focused on Ahsoka and Maul's experience during Order 66. A lot of people wanted them to go back into the Jedi Temple and portray their Anakin massacre fantasies in all its gory detail, but Filoni was clearly having none of that, and wished to respect what Lucas put in place. The references to the scenes simultaneously taking place in Revenge of the Sith was all really well integrated.
I loved how intelligent Maul came across. His cold diagnosis of the war and understanding of his former master's subterfuge marks him out, and I'm happy how they showed that Ahsoka wasn't any better informed than the Council.
There was a significant time jump at the end, which cut to Lord Vader with his stormtroopers on a Hoth-like planet. I like how he carefully picked up his former padawan's lightsabre, and the final shot of a Clone helmet, worn and partly buried within the snow, was poetic. That said, should Darth Vader be even appearing in The Clone Wars? I don't think so, but as an epilogue to the series I suppose I might accept it.
Not sparing an episode for Palpatine's capture, as Alex suggests, is definitely a missed opportunity. I can only suspect that they didn't want to encroach on how it was shown in the first Clone Wars series, despite that long being considered non-cannon. Filoni also seemed careful not to trample on the novelisation, staying away from many gloriously written scenes by Stover.
So, overall, despite my gripes, I'm quite positive. Yet I remain saddened that this is the end, for the Clone War is a far richer era than any after it.

I love how Maul went from being a man of few words in TPM to later becoming the most soliloquizing character in all of Star Wars. Brilliant!

We should credit Sam Witwer here too. His performance is just drooling with passion and intensity, and you're left in no doubt of Maul's desperation to survive, no matter what the regime in power. I really hope this isn't the last of him we see.

Overall, I enjoyed the new season. If I’m being honest, I loved the final arc. The execution of Order 66 and Ahsoka’s motives to save the clones from themselves were well done. Maul fit in nicely. I liked the way it played off of ROTS.
However, I will concede that Ahsoka’s anger with Anakin and Obi-Wan for going to defend the Republic capital seemed out of place. I also feel like the Jedi got a bad rap.
That said, Ahsoka’s whole arc was well done, as were Anakin and Obi-Wan. Enjoyed the battle on Mandalore.
