I have always wondered if I could continue to behave like a normal human being if I ever encountered an attractive woman dressed as Padme at a con. I swear I might turn into a schoolboy on the spot and ask her to marry me. What about one dressed as Slave Leia? Slave Leia is hot but I'm a Padme fanboy at my core.

Anakin and millions of other boys definitely felt the Force when Padme walked into the room.

I think it might be the voice. Carrie has this kind of raspy, very mature sounding-voice even during the OT. Natalie, by contrast, at roughly the same age, sounds incredibly soft and feminine, but not to the exaggerated extend of the blonde trope either.
I've never found Slave Leia to be attractive, to be honest. Maybe if I was from that original generation I would, but I don't, and I've never crushed on the actress either. I watch the originals as if I were Mark or Carrie's children, if that makes any sense. And I'm not a fan of the bellydancer aesthetic either.

She has moments of tomboyish hotness in TESB, but by ROTJ the drugs had really taken their toll. It doesn't help that the current version of the ROTJ has the white levels too high or something and it makes her face look really pale in a few scenes. She already looks cracked out.

I dunno Joe, she looked divine compared to that scraggy looking hermit hanging out on the rock. Luke Skywalker reminded me of the Trainman from the Matrix:
In any case, let's try to keep the sequels out of this George Lucas board

A four-page retrospective about AOTC from a website I've been visiting since forever, The Digital Bits: thedigitalbits.com/columns/history-legacy-showmanship/attack-of-the-clones-20thThe piece includes some fascinating factoids about the film's theatrical exhibition and quotes from some top critics circa 2002. However, the conversation that concludes the piece is full of what we've come to expect from an older, haughtier generation. Still, there's some defense in the closing discussion and it's always refreshing to see illuminative attention paid to the second (and best ) SW prequel.

Ah, yes. That and DVDActive (which apparently no longer exists).
Attack of the Clones was also my first DVD.

Gotta admit, there are still some apologetics in that article that annoy me. I enjoy some of the passion on display in this piece, but I am yearning for a full-on, unapologetic display of passion for this romance. I want the SUPER SAIYAN-level celebration of Panakin (as she dubs them in the article). I'm just gonna have to do that myself, aren't I? I can see it now.
Predictably, she's already getting torn apart in the comments.

Well if only a certain Cryogenic would publish his AOTC treatise. I hear he's uncompromising....

Well if only a certain Cryogenic would publish his AOTC treatise. I hear he's uncompromising.... Please tell me that treatise has Elvis references! I just checked (haven't looked at that thing in a while), and there's exactly -- to my surprise -- one direct Elvis mention in it. But it's right where the romance and Anakin are being defended. I now see how it could be expanded a little. You know, AOTC is a special movie, and maybe it takes a special mindset to appreciate it wholeheartedly. Stuck between the pillars of TPM (storybook fantasy) and ROTS (Greek tragedy) of the PT, it often gets a raw deal. It has a strange mixture of very conspicuous and very subtle elements both, and it's easy to "attack" the conspicuous ones and ignore the subtle ones, when it's the yin-and-yang of the whole piece that gives AOTC its unique personality. Ugh, if I could just get back into my "AOTC is all that matters" mentality, I could maybe return to my treatise and finally finish it.

I've stayed away from the PT for quite some months now. I haven't even seen any Youtube clips of it, nada. In the long run, I find that being apart from something I dearly love only leads to a greater appreciation. It allows me to look on with maybe not new but certainly with refreshed eyes. Sometimes I might even forget details, and that's fine. Rediscovering can be fun!
Revisiting the prequels is like revisiting that field where you played during childhood. It always feel good to be back. Episode II is, in many ways, Star Wars' Garden of Eden.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't seen any, though. But as you say... Totally. There's nothing like returning home. And the prequels (and Elvis) have long felt like "home" to me. That's quite true, given how much Naboo features. Although, it appears in TPM even more, like Jar Jar. I once did a calculation where I worked out Naboo appears in something like 50 minutes of TPM, around 20 minutes of AOTC, and all of two minutes in ROTS. Jar Jar's diminution (along with the waning life force of Padme) goes in parallel.
