Darkslayer I see tickets have gone on sale for Celebration Europe 2023. 7-10th April, London, UK.
Jedi Master VIP - £795.00
4 day ticket - £159.00
Single day (Friday-Monday) ticket - £65
Unfortunately, it seems like the first two were sold out extremely quickly. Was this the case with Celebration in Los Angeles too?
Hidden fees looking nasty:
Advertised ticket price £65 "Service fee" £3.25 VAT £13 International shipping £15 (why can't we print it out for free? This is not new technology!)
Final total: £96.25
Multiply this by a few days, and for a few people, and you're running up a number. That's not including "merch" or merchandise as I would prefer to call it, which they seem to be pushing. We're not including general travel costs like flights, accommodation, food and transport either. London is not cheap either.

Star Wars Celebration is for wealthy people. Let's be honest: Middle-class Star Wars fans are the ones that Disney knows it can rely on to proselytise on Twitter and gobble up all the merchandise. I'm sure we've all seen plenty of YouTube videos where even the people in those videos pretending to hate Disney with a burning passion are comfortably showing off a mountain of toys, books, comics, mugs, toasters, placards, etc., attractively arranged behind them. Wealthy Star Wars fans have the ability to spend some serious $$$ on the various merchandise being flogged all over the place across those four days at Celebration. People on a budget are really priced out, especially given the venue's location. And this is in the middle of an incredibly serious cost-of-living crisis, too. But it won't matter for the wealthy fans who can afford to fly to, stay over in, and dine out in one of the most expensive cities in all of Europe. I say "Good Luck!" to anyone who is going. Have fun and make the most of it. In the end, I find the commercialism around Star Wars to be a little crass, and all my efforts online to promote the franchise have been pro bono. All Disney really wants is your money.

The ability to show-off your "merch" does not make you an intelligent Star Wars fan. Only your ability to converse about the mythology can do that.
If I ever want to collect 'em all, I can turn to Pokémon. Attending a fan contention should be more about meeting other fans in real-life, attending talks and panels and running into a few famous faces from behind and in front of the camera.
Fixating one one's material possessions is very un-Jedi like, so uncivilised.

Yes, I agree. Although, in my case, I'm not sure how many of those famous faces I'd like to meet. Having experienced the way Matthew Wood treated me on Facebook, I think I've had my fill of Lucasfilm people. "Don't meet your heroes".

Exhibition B (mandatory survey at the ticket website) :
middle of an incredibly serious cost-of-living crisis Yep!!! They have absolutely no clue how fucking sheltered and insular they really are. Also note that their bizarre questioning (as you quoted above) includes asking people to grade various types of Star Wars content interwoven with several attempts to get the reader to respond with an item that doesn't fit at all: - Diversity & Inclusion - Social Issues/Anti-Bullying - Well-being If they wanted to know people's opinions on those sorts of topics, why not create a second question instead of sneaking in completely out-of-place answers in a creepy Orwellian attempt to shame people into picking them? That "droid rights" character in "Solo" works well as a parody of such blatant inanity.

I remember when Star Wars Celebration used to be about, you know, Star Wars, instead of narcissistic validation and psychotherapy.

I think the worst offender is the Galactic Starcruiser Hotel costing 5,000 dollars the experience With that kind of money I'd rather travel somewhere in Europe

I think the worst offender is the Galactic Starcruiser Hotel costing 5,000 dollars the experience With that kind of money I'd rather travel somewhere in Europe If I had that type of money, I'd much rather spend it on multiple separate things than one thing that'll be over in less than a day. That's why I like Celebration so much - you can spend as little (yes Cryo lol, I spent about $200 the first time I went) or as much as you want and still do tons of very different things.

He seems pretty chill in real life. It would be cool to get all geeky about sound design, I'm sure he'd have lots to say.
The one person I wouldn't want to meet, well, until very recently, really, is McGregor. We all know he's suppose to be hot-headed, with a bit of a temper. At this year's Celebration, however, it seems like he was in great form, I would have loved to have taken the opportunity to shake his hand for his great contribution to the Saga had I been there.
The $5,000 drink is indeed offered on that cruise eljedicolombiano . It's separate to the obnoxious amount you pay for your cabin, and I think there's two options there.

Just before you consider going to see the new Thor movie, let me inform you of what Taika Waititi said to Natalie Portman during a recent Rolling Stone interview... If he can't recall that the person beside him was one of the main characters in 3 Star Wars films, why the heck should he deserve to direct one? Imbecile.

I love Taika's Hunt for the Wilder People, but I do not relish him working on a Star Wars movie. His style just doesn't seem appropriate for Star Wars.

He will talk your ears off about movies if you give him the opportunity 😂 And yes, Ewan was very gracious. I did meet him this year and he told me how much it meant to him that I used the prequels to get through my mental health issues as a kid. Honestly he’s probably the most overenthusiastic (in a good way) celebrity involved with Star Wars conventions right now. He spoiled the London announcement to a huge crowd of people and said he’d be back again a year in advance, lol.

Quite a huge lapse that he would forget about the prequels when he's talking to one of its main stars about Star Wars, isn't it? I mean Padmé wasn't a background character only trivia nerds would know, and doesn't look radically different to the real life actress either.
If Taika directed an episode of The Mandalorian, he's bound to have had some lengthy conversations with Dave Filoni, one of the two showrunners. He'd surely then find out that Filoni made his name off an animated spin-off of the prequels. You would think that would make him a tad more familiar. Maybe rewatch all the Saga films the once when he's considering the visuals he'll be employing.
I'm delighted you got to meet McGregor. I think getting to speak with fans personally has completely changed his outlook.
Do you know if Doug Chiang or John Knoll do any meet and greets or photographs? They had massive contributions, and I'm sure a lot of fans know all about them, even if they were behind the camera.
