Anyone keeping up with the new show? Lucas said he considered adding a scene of Boba Fett crawling out of the sarlacc pit to RotJ, and now we get to see that. But to be honest, it felt a little anticlimactic. Why was there a conveniently placed Stormtrooper in there? I would have liked it to be a real struggle for him to get out of there. You get all the expected fan service with Jawas, sandcrawler, banthas, twin suns, etc., which is nice to see, but can get a bit much. Disney had really overdone it with the desert planets. But as someone who is new to Disney's live action Star Wars shows, this felt more like the two "anthology" movies, than it does the new trilogy. Which is a really good thing. Solo, and especially Rogue One felt much more like Lucas' Star Wars saga than the new Disney trilogy did. The Tuskens were the highlight of the episode, and I like how they gave additional context to AotC. It was just great to see Temuera Morrison in the suit again, and it gave me chills when he put the helmet on. Also, as someone who really loves the "mirroring" aspect of Star Wars, I couldn't help but notice the similarity of Boba suffering from nightmares related to the Tuskens to Anakin's nightmares, with Fennec Shand being Boba's Padmé. I will say that, despite liking it for the most part, the acting does rub me the wrong way. Or perhaps the dialog, or both. It is clear that they are trying to "modernize" the acting and dialog, and make it less theatrical than in Lucas' films. What I like about Star Wars is its old school style of acting among other aspects, which really set it apart from other modern films. It gave it a timeless and suitably otherworldly quality. What are your thoughts?

Sure, it could have been more of a struggle to get out of the Sarlaac. They def took a more, quick and efficient approach to setting up all of this back story exposition about how he escaped, etc. I really liked the creature he fights in the desert. And the inside of the Sarlaac is sccarrry. Never want to be inside of one of those things myself!
Furthermore, the fact that Boba's health is sketchy at the moment is interesting. It didn't seem like he was still recovering from his ordeal after the Sarlaac, as the bacta-tank scenes happen after the events of the Mandalorian. Clone complications perhaps?

Nice episode, I hope it'll get more dynamic though.
And it would be sacrilege to spend a whole season in Mos Espa without showing some podracing.

I'm also wondering how long it will take for Boba to come into conflict with the Crimson Dawn and Pyke Syndicate. It is possible that that will occur in a later season because right now he has to secure Jabba's territory.

I was surprised by how dark they went with some of the stuff in this episode. The Tusken torture and the sarlacc was indeed like some space horror. Which is why I would have liked to have seen more of the sarlacc. That creature in the desert was indeed awesome. The effects were great. I wasn't really interested in The Mandalorian before, but this episode got me to check it out, and now I have seen the first few episodes of that. The creatures in these shows are amazingly well done, especially for a TV show. I can't think of anything like them in the Disney movies. The shows have captured the exotic feeling of Lucas' Star Wars much better, and I think that must be partly thanks to Filoni, who worked under Lucas. I hope they continue the nightmares. That was an interesting aspect. Nice episode, I hope it'll get more dynamic though. And it would be sacrilege to spend a whole season in Mos Espa without showing some podracing. We have to see some podracers. And I hope we see eopies, they're one of my favorite creatures.

It's so frustrating that they show Kamino in each episode... but just for 3 seconds
(Nice episode though)

Seeing as I am heavily interested in the work of Jung and Joseph Campbell I was all about that initiation ritual the Tuskens put Boba through. The best part is the inclusion of the archetype of the Philosophical Tree, a tree that is said to grow on an island in the sea, the sea being the aqua permanens or prima materia of alchemy. Of course, there didn't seem to be an island in this case, just a tree straight up growing out of the water.

They understand the archetypes, the repetition (not just "Hey, remember this?"), and the world building. On that latter one, I liked the conductor droid and how it scurried off on spider legs. That felt like a little touch Lucas would add to make the world seem more exotic, a little distraction among the action. It reminded me of the droid on Mustafar. And the little thing the Hutt was holding was also a nice touch. Little weird, offbeat humorous touches like that make all the difference.

I loved that conductor droid moment, too! By the way, there's a litany of instances throughout Star Wars (and Indiana Jones, for that matter) where the camera momentarily follows side-characters or objects on a wayward course. It's very distinctive.

It's very distinctive. That's a big part of what makes the GFFA feel like the GFFA. Lucas knew how to make the world seem exotic and lived-in. It's part of Lucas' "documentary" style. I think stuff like that was missing from some of the other Disney productions.

I wondering if a Mace Windu return is forthcoming considering we saw a flashback of the Geonosis arena in the first episode.

Who knows. It could be either. I'd like them to cool it on brining back dead characters tho, so I'd prefer flashbacks myself.

Yeah, I'm not sure about bringing him back from the dead. I don't remember much about the Boba episodes of TCW, except Mace and Anakin working together. I would love to see Samuel L. Jackson and Hayden Christensen reenact some of that. And maybe see Temuera Morrison play one of the clones from TCW. But I think that's more likely for the Ahsoka show.

The third episode has been surprisingly divisive. I liked it. I thought the bike gang was something different, more PT-like. Though Boba has gotten a bit too soft for my liking.

Episode three was very world-buildy. In addition, there was a lot of exposition upfront, so I can see why some would not like it. I love how dorky those speeder bikes are. They look like Kitchen Aid appliances haha. It was VERY WEIRD seeing colors that bright on Tatooine.
