They released the TBOBF edition of Disney Gallery today (May the Fourth be with you, BTW). Some pretty cool stuff! It'll be interesting to rewatch the series knowing a bit more about the thought processes behind it. Thanks for the heads up! That's something I didn't expect but is a cool surprise. The series ended up being slightly a mixed bag for me, so it should be interesting to hear the filmmakers' thought processes behind some choices. I skipped to a certain part that interested me the most, and Dave Filoni confirmed a theory of sorts I've had for a while. It's very interesting to hear him talk about Star Wars, because he has fully transformed from student to master, and almost speaks with the authority of Lucas at this point.

Agreed! Dave just keeps proving himself as George's rightful successor, as far as I'm concerned. That's not to say that Star Wars in a creative sense should belong to just one person in the future - or that it does in the present - but he is absolutely right where he belongs. He understands what George has taught him and, I believe, knows how to pass on what he has learned to his colleagues. Thus, the spirit of Star Wars endures, in a general sense. No doubt, there will be more gurus worthy of the moniker at Lucasfilm in the future. I think Bryce Dallas Howard is another fantastic person for Star Wars. She's a good actor and a great director, and she has a connection to George through her father, so it's fitting. She directed one of my favorite episodes of The Mandalorian, "Sanctuary." With these live action shows, there have been many talented people working on Star Wars.

Just finished watching this the other day and I have to say it's a considerable step down from Mandalorian for my taste. I don't think the time jumping worked all that well and Boba wasn't as strong as a character to carry the show. That said, I appreciated all of the Prequel references a lot.
What suprised me was that some of the special effects that didn't look as good as we're used to nowadays, especially with some of the backgrounds. I don't know if that's down to the much-hyped Volume, which I don't know much about. I also think that the limitations with Grogu as a puppet are becoming more and more obvious... Started to feel like animated merchandise that's up for sale when he was supposed to walk and move like a living creature.

Just finished it last night. The visuals are beautiful. It really is like being q kid and having every Star Wars action figure and vehicle and making your own movie. Boba flying his ship face to face with the Sarlacc over the Pit of Carcoon, to look for his armor(?), was the best this show got. Pointless, but effective. Max Rebo looks stupid though, and the plot is beyond horrible. I hate Mandalorian and this spinoff. It's like a big tease. Promise one thing, then walk it back. Boba Fett show? Nope surprise it's Mando again. Jedi Grogu? Nope surprise it's Mando again. I guess I should be glad it exists at all, but look, I was expecting a show about Boba Fett, and this... Man, I dunno. It's part of this weird Filoni-Favreau reality. I hope Star Wars will be doing something different from this story-wise, because they capture the environments and creatures so well, they just haven't told any complete story in this series' three seasons.

I hate Mandalorian and this spinoff. It's like a big tease. Promise one thing, then walk it back. Isn't that all Disney Star Wars really is? I've yet to see or hear of anything substantial. Everything is a tease or a trailer for the next thing, the Emerald City that is promised but is always another episode/season/trilogy away. Probably why the prequels are so de-emphasised at Disney/LFL. They stand out like a gleaming citadel and expose the rotten, vapid core of everything the new copyright holders are doing.

The Prequels were de-emphasised because they hate them and pandered to the whiny fans complaining that lucas ruined their child hood F**K THEM!

Of course, you recognized what I was really saying in that post. I wrote that part and wrote the rest around it. I don't want to be ungrateful because it's becoming connective tissue, visually. But there are NO new worlds! Am I wrong? Seven years now. Ten almost if you count the Disney acquisition. Even Ob-Wan. Could it? Could it possibly have anything new environment-wise?

Well, chapter 5 of 'The Book of Boba Fett' remains the best homage to the Prequel Trilogy in live-action Star Wars

I finished my re-watch today. Some brief observations:
1. Boba riding a rancor is still one of the coolest things in all of Star Wars. 2. The initiation into the Sandpeople tribe is amazing. The heart and soul of Star Wars is based in all that Campbellian stuff. 3. I realized one of the reasons deep fake Luke is so uncanny: he's missing Mark Hamill's facial scar! 4. That suped-up Naboo Star Fighter, like the rancor, is one of the coolest things in SW. Gotta love that image that Anthony posted above! 5. This series is underrated. Don't believe the Youtube hate! 6. I like that they grow Boba up a bit in this series by having him take on new responsibilities instead of sticking with bounty hunting.
