Again, if you're just dumping links with no input of your own, put it in the designated link dump threads, or maybe the Random thread.

That is kind of strange that Lucas killed off Padme if he likes it when everyone lives happily ever after. jppiper Do you know where this exchange between Kasdan and Lucas is from?

Twitter is still a den for the trolls I see.
It was never a lovely place, but I think it's plain to see that it's become a Wild West under Musk's ownership. You have all these anarcho-capitalist types, with their weird avatars and their paid blue checkmarks, worshipping at the feet of their daddy.
Some of these guys are even Star Wars fans and get this, then complain about Disney having too much power. Which I always respond in my own head with "You're a simp for libertarianism. You cheerlead for policies that enable huge, shady corporations to control everything, including our beloved mythologies. With the arrival of woke capital, you were caught with your pants down. You are a part of the problem."

I once heard a description of Libertarians: they're just nihilists in disguise. I often ruminate on what that might mean.

Now that I thought about it for a few minutes, it isn't that strange. ROTS is a tragedy, which features Anakin as a problematic youth attempting to kill his adopted father. With that in mind, of course one of the cast gets killed off before the end. ROTJ, on the other hand, is the fairy tale. And, of course, many fairy tales feature parents dying in the backstory, and this is exactly the case with Padme in the backstory for ROTJ.

Joe, you are deliberately seeking out very negative news, like on a daily basis. It's not healthy for you.

I really do get the impression that the mainstream has a very narrow definition of what makes for a good Star Wars experience (and good movies in general), i.e., it is the 1970's style of filmmaking that George was trying to reposition his original movie against. After all, Star Wars is a fairytale.
