Tumblr, wow, I haven't been on there in years.
I believe it was a big internet hideout for prequelists during the dark days, when you couldn't say a thing positive on the films. I never joined, but I always admired their creativity. They would shine a particularly strong light on the elegance of the trilogy.
Do people on here still use Tumblr? You don't hear so much about it these days.
This is true, but I wouldn't really say Darth Vader is "manly" in the OT. He's a monster, he's a cyborg, he's not even fully human, as Obi-Wan saids.
I wouldn't say Anakin is any less masculine in the PT. In AOTC, he's a college-aged guy, whose simply never interacted with young women his own age before. He's quite awkward, as I think we can all admit we were to some degree then. Nobody becomes the boxing heavy champion of the world at that age.
In ROTS, Anakin is much more mature, more of an adult, and a man who has gone through war. He might not be the person in his 30s people were hoping he'd be, but I think he exhibits plenty of the qualities. And please, there's nothing unmasculine about a man concerned about the fath of his wife and child, that's called being a husband.

Friendly reminder of the real critical reception of the PT here from Anthony
It begs the question then, why was it actors like McGregor got the impression they were so disliked? When you listen to him, you get the sense that the films weren't merely not as liked as much as the originals, but that it was almost all negative, include for ROTS.
I do like the author's point that Lucas erred in focusing too much on the bad reviews he got. It's a very human thing for us to be more preoccupied by one negative comment rather than ten good ones, than even the Maker himself isn't immune from Unfortunately, however, the bashers may hay with it, as they did with the BTS documentary for Episode I, trying to spin it's production as a chaotic mess.
Anybody brave enough to spread this article around Reddit?

Peculiar how Hayden is maybe the only PT regular to come away from the franchise with nary a sour note, complaint, offhanded or underhanded or condescending jab or really any placation to any presumed criticism per whatever given interview or event. Well, he and McDiarmid at least. Both just seem perpetually grateful to have been a part of something that was very much its own thing. Grateful and in return gracious.

Hayden is too pure for this hellscape of a world.

Here, here.
That inability to conform and kowtow to the trends and diktats of its era, may well lend an immortality to the prequel trilogy just yet. It subverted expectations and never blew its own trumpet over it either.
It is a series of films that profoundly shaped me as a child. No amount of angry YouTube videos will ever shake that out of me.
Christensen is a pure gent. For sure, his career may not have catapulted to supreme heights (as happened Portman), but he knows well he's lucky to have the filmography that he does has. And he's terrific with the fans.
Smitty, you guys are fortunate to have such a wonderful ambassador.

That article definitely pinpoints one of George's anthropological/psychological musings: how do people feel about their parents?
