Y'all might wanna get comfy for this one. A million times THIS! When I found it a few months ago, I sat through the entire video in one sitting. A compelling and arguably definitive video essay on the prequels (but I hope I'm wrong and there's more incredible stuff out there that I just haven't discovered yet)!

I'm not surprised. Russia's appreciation for the PT has never seised to put a smile on my face.
By the way: welcome to the forum! Are you yourself Russian? This forum owes a lot of gratitude to tonyg, an Eastern European user who (along with our admin) strove to continue discussions after many of the founding members disappeared.

And Episode IX has fallen to 6.1 mark...
By the way: welcome to the forum! Are you yourself Russian?
Thank you very much! Yes, I am from Moscow. And what about you? Are you English, or American, or maybe Australian?
Also, the rating of all 11 movies from Kinopoisk ("movie search") is very funny. I can tell about it.

That begs the question then: what does Russia think of her in Darren Aronofsky's film Black Swan? She's arguably even more beautiful in that one. And it features a dance very close to your nation's heart

Does any Russian novel (especially from the Golden Age) remind you of the story or themes present in the PT?
Yes. I've read "Crime and Punishment" and "The Idiot". Anakin has the same motivation: he tries to save all people. Moreover, we can see this in every prequel. "To stop people from dying..." But this task is unsolvable. That's why Yoda tries to stop him in the Episode III, or his mother says to him in the Episode I, that some things are unchangeable. Also, Padme says the same thing in the Episode II. I've not read "The Adolescent", but that novel has similar ideas too.
That begs the question then: what does Russia think of her in Darren Aronofsky's film Black Swan? She's arguably even more beautiful in that one.
I haven't watched Black Swan. According to film connoisseurs, two best Natalie's performances are: Leon and Black Swan. I'm not a connoisseur. Best performances: 1-2. Leon / Black Swan 3. V for Vendetta 4. Closer 5-6. Star Wars I, II, III / The Other Boleyn Girl Movies: 1. Leon - 8.773 / #7 Best Film of All Time 2. Star Wars Ep. III - 8.1 / #173 Best Film of All Time 3. Star Wars Ep. II - 8.0 4. Star Wars Ep. I - 7.9 5. V for Vendetta - 7.8 6. Black Swan - 7.73 7. The Other Boleyn Girl - 7.66 8. Where the Heart is - 7.59 9. Goya's Ghosts - 7.5 10. Thor: Dark World - 7.28 11. Closer - 7.24

Thought this would be worth putting here. Overly Sarcastic Productions' "Red" has some very nice things to say about Anakin Skywalker. Though she does throw some snide towards his appearances in the films (the version that this forum ultimately defends), she doesn't let her take on the film version come into conflict with her analysis, and expertly and simply outlines why Anakin's arc is effective as an Anti-Hero, and how TCW and Revenge of the Sith aid his redemption significantly based on his characterization. Gotta love it.

A SPARKLING CONCLUSION It is very interesting to consider the last shot of «Attack of the Clones». Firstly, what we have in the shot? The wedding of Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala. This is a beautiful ending of the love story, which was developed during the whole movie. After the beginning of the war we can see a peaceful place, after the scorching rocky desert we can see the lake and the blooming garden. Contrasts work: the viewer is pleased. Anakin and Padme under the shadow of the tree look extremely romantic and beautiful. Their wedding truly looks secret. Also, this isn't still a sunset, but the sun begins to go down. What about the composition of the shot? There are several rules in the composition of photography. Firstly, the format. Horizontal format 2.40:1 is very relaxing. It expresses how we look at the world. And this works, because the atmosphere of the shot is also relaxing. Colors. Main colors are: dark green, dark brown and grey. They look good: these are colors of nature. The glint of light is located near the right border and allows the shot to look more realistic. Also, Anakin's cloak isn't too dark and Padme's gown isn't too bright — so they don't «fall out» of the shot but merge with the ground and the handrail. Red roses create the romantic atmosphere but also don't fall out of the shot because of the play of light and shadow. This is the rule «less means more». The shot is, primarly, the light and shadows. Too much colors or too bright colors can divert our attention, but not here. The play of light and shadow reduces the brightness of colors and allows us to focus on Anakin, Padme and on the lake. One of the most common rules is the rule of thirds, when the main lines and objects of the shot is located on intersections of lines, which divide the picture into nine equal parts. But better results we can get using the golden ratio, when the image is divided in the ratio 1.6:1, or, more accurately, 1.62:1. For example, 5/8 (numbers 5, 8, 13 are members of the Fibonacci sequence). So, let's look at the shot, how it is divided in golden ratios horizontally and vertically.
The main line of the shot — water line (horizon) is located on the golden ratio with high accuracy. Two parts of the shot is separated by the tree. The right border of the tree is also located on the golden ratio, but now it is horizontal golden ratio. And this is very beautiful: we have «a separate room» for Anakin and Padme. Note at C3PO: he merges with the tree. This is a very good decision. The rule «less means more» works: we do not notice him and can pay attention to Anakin, Padme and to the lake. R2D2 plays the role of the separator and located on the golden ratio; droids look like the «wall» of the «room» of Anakin and Padme. Also, R2D2 is very small and shorter than the handrail. But even if we watch at this «room», we have enough space to look at the water. Why? Note at the water line. Isn't there another golden ratio? Look at the red line: 5 + 8 = 13 cm. Anakin and Padme stand on the inner golden ratio. Horizon. Horizon is located down below. It works: we have enough space to see the sky, mountains and clouds. Natural framing. Look at the shot from a long distance. You can see that it looks like a photo from an album. But that's not all. The shot has a perspective. It is the air perspective: mountains are foggy, we can see the contrast between the foreground (Anakin, Padme, droids, trees) and the background (mountains). So we have the depth of the shot, which makes it more beautiful. And, in addition, the white cloud is also located on the golden ratio, if we divide the shot in the ratio 1.62:1 not from the top but from the bottom. By the way, Lake Como and Villa del Balbianello have become more popular after Attack of the Clones. Time passes, but people continue to watch this movie and travel to Italy to see this place. The final shot of «Attack of the Clones» is one of the most beautiful shots of all time. David Tattersall, the cinematographer of the prequel trilogy, has done an amazing job. And all of it for the story of Skywalker parents.

Just in case you didn't know: Kyle Newman is a director and a long-time prequels fan. I hold him in very high regard.

The makeup department for ROTS did such an outstanding job. Apparently, these are 4th degree burns on Anakin.
