Cryogenic Auteur a filmmaker whose personal influence and artistic control over a movie are so great that the filmmaker is regarded as the author of the movie. Exactly. That's the sort of definition SWT should have been able to locate. But he couldn't, because he didn't type the word in correctly, because it seems he's never heard of the term, despite being a thirty-something mass media commentator who gushes hard over Star Wars, and more specifically, George Lucas-authored Star Wars. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_operations_(United_States)Essentially, the whole Disney takeover of Star Wars is one large corporate psy-op, and people like Headland are agents trying to force through a new status quo. For example, she claims to be progressive, and real progressiveness should entail open-mindedness, but instead, she bashes Lucas, dismisses the auteur theory of film (and says every person on the production, even the director, is expendable -- so that obviously includes her), and happily throws the prequels under the bus. And she previously worked under Harvey Weinstein as his personal assistant. She doesn't offer a true heterogeneous approach; just more regressive left orthodoxy. Yet, outwardly, she acts like she's some trailblazer for women and minorities. She's much more of a Hollywood shill than she seems to realise.

PSYOP -- Psychological Operations
Has its roots in 20th century wartime military stratagems, particularly (though certainly not exclusively) in regards to the United States and therein blossoming to a level of cultural awareness during-then-following the Vietnam war. Today however it is a phrase applied more loosely or sarcastically to corporate media agendas, though some conspiratorial sensibilities will oft make a connection from the latter to the former.
The gist of it: control your enemies or further subjugate the masses by deep and lasting indirect influence via calculated information/presentation; typically through subdued or seemingly innocuous gestures, public relations, commercial & human resource affairs etc. Sorta like propaganda but unpackaged, less dramatic and minus the bold outlines.
edit—Cryo beat me to it

This answer matches what I though you meant, thanks for the confirmation. Diego Luna's comments in his interview with Hayden suggest an empowerment of the corporation over the individual artist as well. He said a single individual can't steer the ship on these massive streaming series the way one person could steer a feature film. And you know, at this point, there are so many female directors I don't think anyone can claim to be a trailblazer in that regard anymore. This is probably why I find so much activism redundant and boring nowadays. Needless to say, I am going to be skipping The Acolyte. I have better things to do with my time. I guess were are all being psy-oped and psy-oping each other 24/7. The 21st C proves to be an eternal delight!

Hey, that's our middle name around this place, and we're unapologetic

Ah, yes, a Hillary Clinton type. Another poster girl for the gullible bourgeoisie, all by manufactured consent.
It's, like, okay to bomb poor Iraqis now, like, because our QUEEN is in charge, and, like, she's the one making the orders. YES, EQUALITY!
Say what you want folks about the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, but at least its director, when interviewed, always showed respect to Lucas and his mythology.

While I didn't love the Obi-Wan show, I definitely like Deborah as a person.

hopefully Maul is the villain in this movie, and they can tie up that little cliffhanger at the end of Solo.

I sometimes wonder the challenge of being a writer/editor for puff pieces like this, these days particularly. Is it a grind churning out such agenda-dependent bubble-world bullshit or alternatively does it require hoops upon hoops through which mental gymnastics must be performed?
Bills ain't gonna pay themselves, granted, but I can scarcely imagine the daily career-value-assessment this person must either attempt or psychologically delete altogether after coming home from work. A goddamn janitor likely has a greater sense of pride.

I always wondered that too. It's lowest common denominator, give the masses what they want to hear drivel. But these days I think they just churn it out with ai.

They've been rewarded for following instructions their entire lives. They might have a vague notion that it's not award winning work, but I'm willing to bet they've invested a lot more into the idea that what they do is good enough to pay the bills, and quite proud of it!

I went to a leftie university, so I know from experience these types genuinely believe what they're selling. Star Wars is just a nice giant billboard upon which to blast their ideas at maximum volume and reach.

Wait. Why are we attacking the messenger? This isn't an editorial or anything like it. The writer is simply reporting on statements made by an LFL creative and providing some basic context.

I hear the so-called Rey movie has been cancelled. How that was greenlit in the first place, I shall never understand. Many more probably wanted Solo and look how that turned out.
We need a clean-out of the entire managerial class at Lucasfilm.

I thought that was just a rumour. And Rey has her fans. They're all over the internet, you just gotta go to the right places. Back when I used reddit more I saw them popping up on there. Usually younger people (Gen Z).

Lucasfilm is now observably schizophrenic. How many official, "visionary" future film projects have they canceled at this point... I've lost count, to say nothing of interest. It almost solely exists as little more than a PR entity.

Usually younger people (Gen Z). A generation that firmly believes living in a world that's unimaginably hard to them and expects every aspect of life, especially their skills, somehow, magically, turn out brilliantly without having to do any actual work. Sounds like Rey. I know, that was mean, and no generation are all the same.
