That got... surprisingly tense at the end. Hey, I went easy on the lady. I'm a savage but I'm not a mindless savage. What can I deduce from the above? Ingram really, really loves ROTJ. This is a good thing. It's a platonic love, though. Nothing sexual.
Well....

Leia's grief over losing Alderaan isn't explored because it's not part of the story. There's about six-weeks of 'writers' room' content in every installment of Lucas' Star Wars that isn't explored because, wouldn't ya know it, he was only telling a continuing story from one episode to the next, focusing on the essential dramatic/thematic through-lines in order to facilitate a singular pop-myth. But audiences these days obsessed with media content over cinematic form have zero association with such classicalist parameters; everything, every character, has to be a goddamn water-cooler teledrama on its 3rd season or whatever.
Those are my thoughts. Pardon the harshness.

Basically, yah. Although, it is a little odd how Leia shows no emotion over the loss of her entire planet. Moreover, her comforting Luke in place of showing her own grief, gives the feeling she is there to perform maternal duties as and when needed and to prop up the men. That said, Lucas made this whole motif kind of an "official" thing in TPM, when Amidala comforts Anakin after playing back the holographic message which suggests her own planet is in deep shit, but she'd rather not dwell on it, so she turns her attention to a lonely boy. It is not, of course, that Leia or Padme lack emotions. They just don't express them very much in public. People still fail to grasp the restraint and sophistication of the main Star Wars movies and the business-like syntax employed continuously in the storytelling.

They are public officials. The fact that they are able to keep their composure and not break down in despair and grief is a strength of both characters. Besides, it's not in the style of Star Wars for characters to dwell too much on dramatic moments. Luke is the main character and he moves on after a few moments. He has to. And it's one of the themes of Star Wars after all. To let go and move on. Anakin is the one who doesn't let go and doesn't move on, and all that brings is pain and suffering.

"When we heard about Alderaan, we feared the worst."
"We have no time for sorrows, Commander. You must use the information in this Artoo unit to help plan the attack. It's our only hope."
Leia in a nutshell. You'd think female fans might admire her professionalism as a key member of the Alliance -- her brass ability to put aside grief for a steely cause -- over all the boyish antics of Luke and Han together. Really, what's she to do, swoon about and clutch pearls as a useless damsel amid a rescue or go lock herself in a room on Yavin 4? She knows the Falcon was tracked. She knows what the Death Star can do and that it's en route to the Rebel base. Woman's gotta job to do.
If one is compelled to apply some kernel of emotional credibility then it's logical to assume that Leia took a beat during her cell block imprisonment to process some degree of anguish before squaring her objectives. Remember that oddly indulgent scene of mourning in The Two Towers where Theoden sobbed & monologued over the death of his son? A character we had just met hand-wringing over a character we scarcely even saw. Yeah, I'm glad Lucas kept his cliffhanger space movie focused and clipped. Never once over six films did he opt for cheap catharsis for its own sake. Man had a job to do.

What's "oddly indulgent" about it? Dude, half of the entire LOTR trilogy is like that! So glad The Star Wars Saga lacks all the fulsome, diabetic qualities of the LOTR movies and their overloaded approach to drama/emotion. Thank the Force for George Lucas.

CryogenicHere's one the re-writes and edits to make the trilogy better (like The Phantom edit which removes Jar Jar)

From Brighter Than Coruscant That's not a reaction to it being blown up, it's a reaction to them threatening it, She shows no emotion after it is, or seems sad at all in her cell when Luke rescues her and makes jokes and the rest of the movie acts as if her planet didn't get destroyed Another comment complained about how Luke had no reaction to his foster family being burned to death

Cryogenic Here's one the re-writes and edits to make the trilogy better (like The Phantom edit which removes Jar Jar) Pah! No, they totally ruin the films. Fans ought to keep their butcher's knives away from proper cinematic art and stick to the Marvel movies or something. That couldn't be plainer. Leia's reaction to Alderaan being destroyed is more subdued, though. Leia seems to make better Jedi material than Luke. Then again, Leia is more hot-tempered, like Anakin.

Agh I can't bother with Reddit. A website that allows you to downvote others opinions only fosters the culture of being unable to have discussions with opposing viewpoints.
