"And there came a day. A day unlike any other, when Earth's Mightiest Heroes found themselves united against a common threat; to fight the foes no single superhero could withstand alone.
On that day...
The Avengers were born."
This thread had to come eventually. I am a proudly professing Marvel Fan, and their endeavor into films has been incredibly shaky. Back when DC was on top with hits like Superman: The Movie (1978), The Dark Knight (2008), and other movies and shows, this poor entertainment company was readying for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. When they sold the rights to their most popular characters, they were left with a box of scraps. A bunch of characters that had simply faded into obscurity in the shadows of Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and the Hulk.
So the fact that they went from THAT to THIS in at least 22 years...is simply mind-numbing for us, and marvelous for them. And now, with the backing of the Mouse, and all their properties back with them, the future is uncertain but bright.
Thus, this thread is your place to talk, gush, critique, or speculate upon the franchise that is arguably the Star Wars of my generation. I know I will. It's the franchise that propelled and motivated my interest in writing superhero stories of my own. Not all of their films are perfect (in particular Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel), but the levels of intertextuality and depth behind each character is astounding to behold. And essentially, this is the thread to debate on how far that goes.
And of course, this thread is not only limited to the MCU. Feel free to discuss the then-Fox Properties, as well as other Marvel adaptations worth a mention.
So. Ready to assemble?
