You have been warned! Spoilers for Rise Of Skywalker are ahead!

OMG...

As if it couldn't get any worse, than it gets worse.... Not one person I have talked too likes this. People on the internet, at my work, my family...

According to leaks and rumors, that are becoming more and more true by the day as more trailers and tv spots are released...

Rey's heritage is...

PALPATINE...

WT actual F.... Rey is the granddaughter of Palpatine, Darth Sidious, The Emperor...

I saw these rumors popping up a few months ago, but, dismissed them as fan boy theories. However, it seems now with more and more evidence of the surrounding story turning out to be true, like the Sith Dagger that is used to find Palpatine, this same Sith Dagger is what appears to scare 3PO as he tries to decipher it (the shot of him saying he is looking at his friends one last time), has been confirmed in the trailers and tv spots..

So... the leaks and rumors go that, Palpatine knew Vader was going to betray him on DS2, so Palpatine sent a clone of himself in his stead... while the real him hid himself away on some Planet in the Unknown Region, just waiting for the right time to strike, which is when his grand daughter comes of age and the Force calls her apparently...

Palpatine's plan is to have his Granddaughter rule with him... OF course, because she is Super-Rey, the most prefect of prefects ever... she denies her place along side Palpatine and proceeds to kill him, and not just kill him, she single handily destroys the entire Imperial fleet that Palpatine has been hiding for the last 30 years...

Than... to top it off, she returns back to Tatooine, buries the Skywalker lightsaber at the Lars homestead, and as she is paying her respects, a young boy walks up to her and asks her who she is... her reply...

Rey, Rey Skywalker.. END CREDITS....

A few days ago, the rumors of a return to the lars homestead have been confirmed as some dumb ass LFL employee tweeted out a pic of themselves from earlier this year when they were "on set" in the desert, and in the background.. is the lars homestead. The employee quickly took the tweet and pic down...

If... If these rumors/leaks turn out to be true, ROS will be a one and done viewing for me, the sequel trilogy will be written off by me. The Skywalker bloodline dies, in disgrace, but Palpatines bloodline lives on, but it's ok, because she appropriates the name Skywalker... cause she gets to do that for what ever reason!...

Forget the momentous amount of story that has to be filled in to explain, convincingly, Palpatine's return, how none of the Force Ghosts saw him coming, and how he was able to build or keep and armada of Star Destroyers, but that Rey is his Granddaughter.... Rey Palpatine...

Once again, our heroes have to be torn down, so Disney can put their own spin on shit! Shmi.. Padme, Anakin, Luke, Han, Leia... None of it matters because in the end, it's a Palpatine that defeats a Palpatine...

It's a Palpatine that defeats evil, with very little help from our heroes, from Luke, Leia, Han.. Nope.... None of that mattered, because in the end, Palpatine's bloodline is what was important to end the SAGA...

I don't want to be rude, Mike, buy really, are you surprised that is garbage? These people don't want to tell a story, they only want to cash on the emotional relationship of the fans with the Saga (who respectively would bring their children and friends, I.e. more profit). Is not that Lucas didn't want to succeed financially but he wanted also to tell a story. That is essential for a movie. These people are TV people like state of mind: the story doesn't matter, the Episodes do matter. But within the Episode there is no story either, there are events that happen and situations in which the characters are involved and that is. There is no story just the next episode is coming. Let's see: TFA follows the events of A New hope literally but as the circumstances are different it looks senseless because no one understands (never!) why finding Luke is so important as it becomes the pillar around the story (also no one never found him). But the heroes should find the old wise legendary man so they are sent to find him.
In the same way the villain should appear mysteriously,should frighten everyone and should kill someone who is defenseless at the moment, checked, we have it. Also, we have the good guy (in this case a girl) who is waiting her destiny (in this case literally) on a remote sand planet, checked. And so on and so far.
And now we have the last installment where the Emperor should appear and should be revealed that he is behind everything and should be an encounter between him, the hero and till then villain, no matter that a difference from the OT in the sequels this situation does not fit in, we need it in the last episode and we will have it.

So I don't see surprises. They continued as before and I don't se why we should expect something different (I think this leak is true as the trailer confirms it more or less).

And this Rey inheriting the name Skywalker in Tattoine.. I think is fake leak because is stupid even for ST.

All the leaks have been confirmed to be true. Under different circumstances, I would have laughed at the fact that things which are so surrealistic and stupid (like Palpatine having an offspring, the appropriation of family names, etc...) could be taken as valid possibilities as opposed to being immediately dismissed. But no. This is painful as a fan of Star Wars. It's just insult after insult.

Why are so many people (who share these criticisms) still willing to give them money for a third time? It just doesn't compute.

A shame but expected. I also expect more discount minority characters such as Finn, to be merely a plot device in order to prop up this wonderful white, perfect and pure aaryan woman to show that even she would help such a low-life, a savage. Disney acts so noble for their cause to help the less civilized. Just look at their other movies based on Native Americans! Perfect film! Natives love it!

I love the ST. I do. It brought Finn to existence and amazing memes.

The mouse of all chaos, knowingly opened up pandora and brought itself moral decay and self-destruction. As of late, others see what they have missed. To understand what has now been wildly understand to the public eye.

Keep it up Disney. Do everything you can to expose yourself. You wonderful naked emperor you!

Correction: Mike, you were right: the incredibly stupid leak is real. What a shame and lack of sense. The Skywalkers are dead and gone and also their memory is stolen. I don't know how many ways would invent Disney to "kill the past". They did it many times in only 3 movies.

I know how it feels. I wouldn't believe the leakers either, although I didn't get spoiled for some things eg. whether Leia and Ben would die, the kiss and Snoke's origins

Rey Palpatine is certainly a plausible explanation of her incredible powers. However, the way it is appears in this film feels like a very conscious retcon and dissatisfaction with what Johnson had written in TLJ. There's no way anyone at Lucasfilm knew her true ancestry when the first sequel was being made. I'm not believing any Kennedy claims of a plan all along without any hard evidence.

In Abrams' defence you might argue "Wasn't Luke's parentage also retconed?". And yes it was, but if you go back and watch ANH you'll find it doesn't negatively impact the film. There's so much to Alec Guinness' tremendous performance there, that you get the sense that he's concealing a thing or two in his lament for his younger years. I don't think we have the same in TLJ - the "nobody" mantra feels like a badge of honour the film wears. TROS, therefore, comes across like a deliberate u-turn. If only the Palpatine link had been the twist in the middle film, it could have felt so less contrived.

More than anything, it's all a missed opportunity. Rey should have been Leia's daughter, while Luke should have his own child: Ben. The former would have allowed us to explore a mother-daughter relationship for the first time, while the latter could have encouraged more proactive writing of Luke's character. The cousin on cousin rivalry would be interesting, and you could have them finding out about that link.

I'm thankful Rey Nobody is gone, but that's little consolation in the knowledge that her awkward kiss with Kylo - when helping to redeem him was more than sufficient - has done irreparable damage to her character. And the spontaneous appropriation of the Skywalker name, without any consent from Anakin, or even Luke, was just ridiculous. We'd already altered the Skywalker definition to accommodate female lines like Ben Solo, so to now have it as a free for all for strangers and non-descendent of Anakin is absolutely absurd. Ahsolka, as the pupil of the Chosen One, and arguably his surrogate daughter, has an infinitely better claim to "Skywalker".

It's a joke that people on the internet are even debating topics like "Who is the Chosen One", "Anakin's conception" or "Whether Anakin brought balance to the Force", when Lucas has long been clear on these matters. That we now have to add "What is a "Skywalker" to that pointless list is just too much, and tempts me to quit online Star Wars discussions.

So we are now getting close to two years from when I created this thread. I have to openly admit that Rise Of Skywalker was not a 1 and done for me as I originally proclaimed it would be, it has been more of a 2.25 and done for me lol. In the 2 years since the release of Rise Of Skywalker, I’ve watched the OT and PT numerous times, the ST… not so much.

As I have recently reflected on this specific storyline of the ST… the Rey Palpatine story… It has in no way grown on me. I have in no way softened on it.

I mean… look at what they had to do to the Skywalker fanily in order to prop up this storyline. It’s not just a matter of the Skywalker bloodline coming to end, even though that hurts… a lot. I think back to wjat Licas said not all that long ago… It’s about families, Fathers and Sons etc etc…

It’s just really really depressing to think that here we have a family that is torn apart initially by greed and lust of power, and we get to believe in the fairy take ending of ROTJ that in the end, things can work out. That the Son and Daughter of one of the most evil men in the galaxy can forge their own path and… be happy… and live their lives building the family up and forward.

Nope… screeching stop on that. Instead it’s regression, failure, separation, dysfunction, dying by your own son’s hand, dying alone… in regret…

All that, and it’s a Palpatine that gets to ultimately save the galaxy and presumably get the happy ever after.

What in the hell is the point of the Skywalker family saga again after the reimagining of the 6 Lucas movies by the ST?

I just don’t know…
