ICYMI, here's the final trailer for Season 3 of The Mandalorian: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Znsa4Deavgg. Looks like we're going to Mandalore, back to Coruscant, and much, much. more throughout this 8-episode season.

This show is stupid and corny, and I like it. Kind of like the Ewok movies. They're MADE-FOR-TV. Really, I feel like the CG animated Star Wars shows feel more like the ORIGINAL six movies than The Mandalorian, Kenobi, or even Andor. I'm even starting to see that these standalone adventures like Solo and Rogue One fall into this category. Just on a larger scale. The entire Disney era, aside from the ST (which I'm still not sure how to categorize), is all akin to EU, and that's just fine. More than pleasing enough for casual consumption. In a way, understanding this puts my mind at ease.

S3E3 was truly beautiful. It finally feels like The Mandalorian is going somewhere. I won't spoil it, but it seems like they've taken a page from Andor. Big prequel vibes from the prominent featuring of Coruscant environments. Pure Star Wars nostalgia with a touch of New York City. THX 1138 continues to influence Lucasfilm productions under Disney. There's even some Brazil thrown in. The Mandalorian may be the hokey fanservice of the franchise with baby Grogu, but it's becoming clear that there's some kind of effort at this point to blur the lines between the different shows, and make everything feel like one epic narrative. They're really trying and succeeding. For the first time since 2005, Star Wars is not just meeting, but exceeding my expectations.

stampidhd280pro Fans are turned off with how they undid the ending of Season 2 in TBOBF and linking the show to the ST.

I'm not sure if I should watch this third season or not. I've only seen the Order 66 scene, which was admittedly pretty nifty. Ahmed Best as a Jedi was certainly cool, and seeing Padme's ship from AotC as well as Naboo guards was nice, but the show feels too fanservice-y. I was also disappointed by the direction they took with Grogu in Book of Boba Fett. I feel like people are getting fatigued not just with Star Wars, but with Mando and Grogu specifically. They really should have split them up.

Its really not that serious. All this Disney stuff is basically fodder for the masses. Take the cool stuff and leave the rest. I say watch it. Or dont.

That's the attitude I've tried to have with this stuff. It's just I was getting pretty invested in Grogu's story the first two seasons, and would've liked him to stay with Luke. Oh well, I guess they have to please the masses who so liked Mando and Grogu together. I'll see how I feel about it as I try to watch this season.

Minor, minor, like ultra-decaf and devoid of context, minor spoilers:
Overall thoughts on Season 3, anyone? For me, this show certainly does an excellent job at: being there. I can't decide yet whether I'm ranking it just below or just above or about on par with Andor.

I thought the episode where the Mandalorians defend Nevarro from pirates was great fun. Other than that, I feel less invested in this season than in the first two. Gideon turned out to be a pretty bland villain in the end.
The duels are a little too confined to single sets too.
That being said, this show is still better than most of what I see on TV.
An additional thought: This Season had some good world building: re-education former Imperials, and an Independent System that isn't part of the New Republic. Those were fun ideas to explore. Plus we got to see battledroids again, I always like that! Those silly battle droids always add some brightness to my day.

Three episode into Season 3. First episode was pretty boring, the second episode was quite entertaining. The third gave us Coruscant, even copying/ recycling shots from ROTS, but a forgettable and predictable plot. I do like Bo-Katan as she points out the stupidity of religious extremism. I hope she's not set up to be "converted" back into Mandalorian cult.

Personally, I think she is forgetting the psychological benefits of a symbol like the living waters. Don't take the symbol literally, but don't overlook its non-literal benefits.

It was a master stroke to use THAT setting to introduce the scientist who's interest is developing cloning technology as a means to cheat death...not to mention his mother as a motivating factor. Yeah. Totally the right setting for that one!

What I still like about the show in Season 3 is that it still allows itself to show some "quirkiness" and just be goofy at times. I remember that sad time period post-ROTS and probably riding the wave of Nolan's Batman when everything had to be "dark", overly serious and grim. If Marvel deserves credit for anything, it's for bringing some light-heartedness back to cinema. Still amazed how Lucas found that perfect tone for AOTC. That was genius on his part, although completely missed by a braindead audience.

Samnz Exactly Movies are (or were) meant to be Escapist Entertainment (granted not all films are like that). Myrna Loy once said "They say the movies should be more like life; I think life should be more like the movies."

"They say the movies should be more like life; I think life should be more like the movies."
This is a very interesting comment. If life should be more like the movies, it is almost as if movies are like a contrast that can be held up to reality, and with which reality can be shamed or critiqued for its inadequacy. In that regard, movies are both outlandish entertainment, but also more than just entertainment because they can be read as critiques of reality.

Yes, I am aware. I am sad to see him go. He certainly added some flavour to The Mandalorian.
