A place to share casual on-set and on-locations photos. Please tell us why they stand out for you.
I only saw these ones for the first time yesterday. It's amazing what's still out there to be discovered folks! These images from the Naboo lake country fields are notable because they show us just how many souls are working behind the camera.
I really like the makeup ones. It encapsulates the attention to the detail that always so heavily animated Lucas.

George directing on Naboo Definitely new to me! I never tire of anything from that beautiful location -- or that most beautiful and poignant of transitional scenes.

Oh, that's a surprise to me. I'll put a lot of effort into gathering more photos for this thread. I've even seen some magazine scans online.

Yeah, find and post -- that's the name of the game. That image is pretty interesting, though. They all look like themselves, only slightly less "usual". George, in his fedora hat and splayed hands, looks like he's directing a porno, speaking to a gowned Hayden and Natalie in a honeymoon location. Hayden and Natalie, on the other hand, look pretty elegant and focused. "Now, remember, Hayden. You have the Force. But don't do it too rough. Slower and less intense. Your lightsaber should get zis big." Sorry, I do love the finished scene in the movie. I believe it was actually one of the first things filmed.

^ I wonder how the original shoot of this scene differed from the reshoot. That fake-beard Obi-Wan is quite jarring each time he pops on screen, in an endearing way

The trio of the PT
The second one here completely new to me, it's always fun discovering new photos. I love how casual Obi-Wan is. The first one makes we wish we had even more time of the trio together, it would be interesting to compare its screentime with the OT trio.
Jango and Bubba
You get a sense that Temura was great fun on set. Just look at that laugh!

Don't encourage John Lasseter.
I had to look that one up.
We shouldn't assume everyone has those malevolent intentions. What I mean there is that I see a lot of socially awkward people in their 20s these days, barely able to look you in the eyes, let alone hug. And I'm not saying I'm any better either, I was really bad with social anxiety until I got into college. Partly I blame this on a weird culture at my school, where kids would laugh at you for any such warm social interactions, even denounce you as gay. It left you constantly second guessing yourself, nervous about whether you were behaving in the correct manner or not for your age group.
Social anxiety is a big issues nowadays. My message is other people aren't necessarily going to bite you, we can all be awkward at times, and we must learn how to overcome it.

My comment was meant in jest but thanks for your commentary. Regarding the thread topic... This is a still from a live webcam feature on SW.com's defunct Hyperspace subscription service. The webcam was active throughout production on ROTS in 2003 and provided, among many other interesting BTS glimpses, this first look at Anakin in the film. I was immediately charmed by Anakin's rebelliously lengthy locks and Vaderesque finger pointing. My rabid anticipation for the third prequel film began upon first seeing this image.

Wow, that really was an early insight, wasn't it? I can't imagine a major studio owned by a giant corporation ever doing that nowadays. From what I gather, 2000s Lucasfilm had a easy-going, Australian-esque attitude.
There must have been people viewing that webam footage who were able to stitch together much of the plot for the film before it even released. No need for leakers.

Between Hyperspace content and issues of the Insider magazine, there was plenty of spoiling going on in those days. I greatly miss the fun and excitement of it all!

I've never noticed this fake beard, would you believe. I see it being referred to a few times in the press four for the new series.
Somny Yeah, I used to be a big magazine collector in my pre-internet youth. I can remember getting Star Wars magazines, though I can't fully remember if it was the official one. News would come out to me by the month, there was no doomscrolling.

Some more from AOTC. The second one gives us the indication that the meadow field scenes were filmed beside Lake Como (I was previously unsure about this)

You know, I'm sure, at times, these films were a bitch to make and there was a lot of tedium involved. And yet, it almost doesn't matter what images you pick, but as soon as you start to collate them, there's this cumulative feel of colour, whimsy, humour, excitement, lavish fantasy, attention to detail, and a strange sense of openness and innocence. I pretty much never get that feeling from behind-the-scenes Disney material. Under Lucas, Star Wars was a wild ride, buckets of fun, and somehow this small slice of paradise where the world is only as bleak or scary as we make it or allow it to be. It really is like we're living in a different epoch now.
