Hegelian philosopher, world's 2nd most famous Slovenian, sniffer extraordinaire (and so on and so on...) gives his take on the PT. The idea of this thread then, as with Camille Paglia before, is to hear and discuss the thoughts of a well-known academic.
If you're not familiar with Žižek's, then it may be wise to first check some of his other speeches or lectures. His style won't rub off well on everyone, it takes a bit to get used to it.
He also ponders a prequel trilogy where Palpatine and Darth Vader are in fact the protagonists
Yes, it's true that he's not full of unfettered, unapologetic praise for the PT, but I might point out that much of this material (unfortunately) comes from the 2005-2010 period, when social pressure made it much more difficult to speak openly about the films as we all know. I think he does, however lay the seeds of an admiration that could delightfully be hatched in today's climate. Sure would love to get him to rewatch - that is my call to arms, if I've got any.
For now, appreciate it for what it is.
