Having not seen the cartoon is probably a huge asset in enjoying the live-action movie for what it is.
And honestly, the show was far more detailed than the movie.

Okay, you mean visually? I was talking about detail in terms of the story. Obviously, a movie will have a visual advantage and a TV series has more screen time to be more exploratory.

I mean they're not in the same league in pretty much every conceivable aesthetic category concerning particulars, not just image fidelity. Something like...if you take the myriad corresponding *things* from both the show and the movie and you juxtapose them, the movie clearly "wins" every single time. IMHO, lots and lots of people are failing miserably at a basic level of aesthetic recognition. It's like they're comparing an image of Betty Boop to the Mona Lisa and actually believing you-know-what.

Thanks for clarifying. I am going to track the movie down sometime in the future and give it another go because it has been long enough that I'm over my initial anger towards it. At this rate, I don't care either way whether I learn to love it or not. I'm just going to go in with a sense of curiosity to see what the movie has to reveal to me.
