That show was great, at least the early seasons. One of the most realistic series ever done.

I haven't watched television in almost 25 years.
Ingram, I somehow just knew MacGyver and Airwolf would be on your list.

I agree with many of you in that tv shows and series leave a lot to be desired these days- too often the shows outlive their welcome and end poorly. If I where to rank them in no order
Cartoons: Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies Tom and Jerry Dragon Ball Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends Dexters Laboratory The Clone Wars Rebels
TV Shows Seinfeld Mr Bean That 70’s Show Blackadder The Three Stooges (technically movie shorts so they don’t count, but whatevs)
I may do a Seinfeld ranking of characters, episodes etc later

What I noticed about kids TV this century so far, not that pay enough attention, is that more of it seems so generic and safe. There were shows called Billy and Mandy, Drake and Josh, Sam and Cat. Two of which are just kid sitcoms. The "quirky" stuff got cleaner, and less abrasive. Even Rugrats makes Fairly Odd Parents look like the Waltons. Ironically, the most satisfyingly bizarre thing I've seen on kids TV this century was just called "Regular Show".

Oh man, I ate, breathed and slept Seinfeld in the '90s. I don't know if I could even think of top episodes, I like them all equally.
I also enjoyed a show in the late-80s on USA called Day By Day, in which one character was played by none other than Julia Louis-Dreyfus. She was a side character, kind of the wacky friend to the central family of the show. But she stole the show hands down. I remember deciding to watch her career with great interest.
Shortly after it got canceled, I caught the first few episodes of a new show called Seinfeld, and immediately became a top fan. Then they eventually brought in Elaine. I did the Leo DiCaprio point, and was so elated.

Back on my BS. Seeing as how Megalopolis is reportedly 138 minutes long, it seems like an appropriate place for this list to end, even though Lucas is the only living director in this list who is actually retired. Well, I decided that Huyck's movies were really not up to par, and Kasdan was just out of place, and I found John Landis was the missing piece, for some obvious reasons. It includes the whole Beverly Hills Cop trilogy, even though he only made the third one. Why not? Lucas's weaker pet projects like More American Graffiti and Strange Magic fell to the wayside, as did Coppola's B'Twixt, and Zemeckis's straight-to-streaming releases. Neither does Schlock appear in this list. I feel overall this is the most enjoyable sequence and the most connective with most of these filmmakers all collaborating and appearing in each others movies. Dementia 138:
Dementia 13 (1963) You’re a Big Boy Now (1966) Finian’s Rainbow (1968)
The Rain People (1969) THX 1138 (1971) Duel (1971)

The Kentucky Fried Movie (1977) Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) Big Wednesday (1978)

Dementia 138 update:
With Landis now in the mix, Joe Dante's place within the story became more apparent, as the other missing piece. Milus's movies fell to the wayside, as did Jurassic Park 3 and the Beverly Hills Cop trilogy (which was impossible to justify anyway).
Dante's early work for Roger Corman is especially appropriate in a list that already includes Dementia 13, Schlock, and Jaws. Rock n Roll High School is almost too good to be true, so it beats out More American Graffiti. Howard the Duck and Willow have returned - omitting them from this list was a dumb mistake. Reggio's Once Within a Time gets dropped for being more of a longform animated short than a movie. Walter Murch's Return to Oz is missing again. Still not sure how I feel about that... Dial of Destiny ends up being the only Disney-branded picture in the list, officially addressing the Disney sale and recognizing the end of an era. Some of my release date ordeer was also corrected. It's also arranged into double features now, instead of triple features.

Dementia 13 (1963) You’re a Big Boy Now (1966)

I'm afraid I'm no good when it comes to Horror movies, so I'll challenge myself a bit and rank my favorite comedy films. This is a slightly hard task as it's a genre that tends to be quite cross-genre, and the recent comedies of the last 25 years or so frankly leave very little to be desired, with a few exceptions. We've mostly forgotten the art of being funny without being too vulgar.
1. Airplane! 2. Arsenic and Old Lace 3. Monkey Business 4. Trading Places 5. His Girl Friday 6. Bringing Up Baby 7. Mrs Doubtfire 8. The Pink Panther (1963) 9. Rush Hour 10. Tower Heist 11. Night at the Museum

Comedies... phew, this is hard.
Clifford Evil Dead 2 Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Rat Race Small Time Crooks Crazy People Anchorman The Hangover UHF Idiocracy Oh Brother Where Art Thou? The Odd Couple (60s version) Clue My Cousin Vinny Johnny Dangerously 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag The Man Who Knew Too Little Weekend at Bernie's Harvey The Stupids Bowfinger Death at a Funeral (2007 UK version) The Producers (60s version)
Oh, i see you already got Trading Places. Sorry, I guess my comedy knowledge is pretty basic.
You may never have seen: Bartleby Nurse Betty Neighbors (1981) Boris and Natasha: The Movie
I liked the Killer Tomatoes series as a kid but I'm pretty sure those are garbage. Still feel like I'm missing something huge here. Radioland Murders gets funnier with repeat viewings, but it starts to lose steam toward the end.

You're tellin' me...
I can't remember the last time I ever had any use for the category in naked, situational terms. I can potentially laugh at works of fantasy, sci-fi, action-adventure or horror that's been heightened with absurdity, satire or offbeat irreverence while still functioning with some sincerity as whatever its respective genre. I'm usually the one to laugh watching Lynch or Kubrick, Altman, Maddin or even Cronenberg. I'll laugh watching RoboCop or 1977's Star Wars or, say, Temple of Doom.
Or American Psycho. Or Freeway.
But comedy merely for its own sake without anything else atypical to grease the wheels? I struggle. Laughing directly at "funny things" -- gags, punchlines, overall wackiness -- for a feature length runtime is not really in my genetic makeup. As much as I'm not a rom-com guy, ever more so can I not stand 'frat boy' humor like heyday Adam Sandler movies or The Hangover bullshit (apologies to any fans present). I'll try my best here without cross-pollinating too much, keeping my selection as close as possible to the praxis of character/situational humor despite larger goings-on.
10 in no order
- The Jerk
- The Blues Brothers
- Ghostbusters - Parenthood - Election
- Broadcast News
- Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Death Becomes Her - Being There - Monkey Business
Honorable Mention: Yes, I have a soft spot for the Jim Abrahams/Leslie Nielsen/Zucker Bros. spoofs of the '80s and early '90s.

We've mostly forgotten the art of being funny without being too vulgar. I don't think I can rank comedies. There are so many mediocre movies that have great funny scenes. I'll list some from the top of my head that I enjoy for the most part: Modern Times Airplane Police Academy Bean Office Space Shaolin Soccer Rush Hour 2 Death at a Funeral (2007 UK version) I only watched the US remake, but I liked it.
