Some years back I had the misjudgement to post synthwave on this forum.
I have since repented, and now present to you the real deal, straight from the late 1970s/80s: Italo disco
there's more to italian music than opera and classical

I must've spaced it on this post. Tis good to see a fellow Italo Discoer. I remember that stuff from when I was a kid but not until the last 10-years or so did I really start indulging. At least four of those tracks are on a playlist of mine somewhere:
Silver Pozzoli - 'Around My Dream' Lee Marrow - 'Shanghai' *
Koto - Jabdah The Flirts - 'Temptation' and 'The Time is Right'
Definitely a subgenre you gotta sift through to separate the legit catchy from the comparably more monotonous but once you find a gem, you can't shake it. That said, Mirko Hirsch has done a banger job in recent years maintaining that "real deal" integrity. Here's a couple samples:
J-Con.
* Yet another ode to that city in China.

Let's heat things up a little'
Back to the beginning...
Giorgio Moroder - the Giorgio Lucas of electronic music
as heard in Midnight Express, 1978, oooooooh ya
Emotional message: the foreboding, the mysterious/alluring stranger on the prowl, the unease and thrill of the imminent

Now for a French banger, which is a love letter to the great American songstress. Also an apt linguistic pun.

Huh, Vangelis' 1960s band Aphrodite's Child, released their first worldwide single in 1968 and it was called Rain & Tears.

Little did we know back in 1982 that this was Anakin. Ah, he's even Canadian. (Ever since 1982 I always assumed they were from the UK).

And I love the fact that Darth Vader is Canadian. That's just perfect.
Well, I guess 1/3 Canadian, but you know what I mean.
